Established in 2020, Low Lime Plastering are a family-run business located in Thetford & led by founder George Low.
All the team at Low Lime Plastering are experienced in a wide range of plastering and rendering. The workmanship, craftsmanship and the attention to detail is what sets us apart from most other tradesmen working in the same industry.
Starting off with the National Lottery Fund, we really found our passion for the repair of the older historical properties within our county/country, some of which date back to pre-1919. The least we can do for these properties, that have stood for hundreds of years, is to be caretakers for the next generation.
Low Lime Plastering is a Norfolk-based specialist lime plastering firm with several years of experience supplying historical and listed buildings in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire with lime plaster repairs since 2020.
All or our conservation work uses conventional materials with a history in historic ' building conservation, maintaining the best long-term interests of historic buildings.
Old buildings are also considered more difficult than modern houses to heat and keep clean. This need not be the case. In order to retrofit insulation to older buildings, there is plenty that can be achieved. Such work, however, needs to be done with an understanding of how traditional buildings function and with the use of materials that work in accordance with the way humidity is controlled by these structures.
Failure to do so will lead to condensation, moisture issues, and eventually endanger parts of the house, such as timber frames. We may advise on insulation and fit it to secure existing structures and materials and build a warmer and healthier domestic climate. We are skilled in the use of a variety of insulating plasters, including hemp plaster, wood wool and sheep's wool insulation, as a historic building restoration company.
